The Cost

The Cost

The expected cost of the trip is $499 per student.  This figure may increase if the total number of participants decreases.  In the past, our trips have in the end cost less than our estimated total, and this trend should continue.  In order to minimize the impact of the trip on family budgets, the following payment schedule has been arranged:

-         August 1, 2008 – a non-refundable down payment of $50.00 is due for each participant.

-         October 1, 2008 – the second installment of $140.00 per participant is due.

-         December 1, 2008 – the third installment of $140.00 per participant.

March 15, 2009 – the final installment, covering the actual final balance is due.  This is expected to be approximately $169.00 per participant.

The actual final balance will be determined by February 1, 2009.

If any family has difficulty meeting any of the above payments, please inform Mr. Moore of your situation prior to the due date.  The Music Boosters are willing and able to help in most circumstances.  Our goal is not to leave any student out of the trip due to cost!

Fundraising

The Music Boosters will be offering a number of fundraisers to assist families with trip costs.  Also, many families have a remaining credit from the 2007 music trip that can be applied to the 2009 trip.  If you have any fundraising ideas, contact Mr. Moore or attend a Music Boosters meeting

Additional Costs

While all meals are provided, those with heartier appetites will want to carry additional funds.  The “small allowance” at many stops will cover a basic meal, but not a lavish one.  In addition, students will be visiting a number of areas where shopping will be available such as Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile and the Museum of Science & Industry.  Extra funds will be required for souvenir shopping.

Chicago Festival of Music - 2009

In May 2009, students in the Badin High School Music Department will be participating in the Chicago Festival of Music.  This festival will feature competitive performances of concert bands and choirs from across the United States.  In addition to the festival performance, students will have the opportunity to visit a number of exciting Chicago landmarks and attractions.  Ultimately, this trip should provide students with an experience that will not only enhance their musical horizons, but their cultural experiences as well.  This should be a trip that provides lifelong memories for students and chaperones alike!
